About Good Dog Farm and Working with Us

Good Dog Farm is a 25-acre, Certified Naturally Grown vegetable farm in Upperco, Maryland. We (Bryan and Joanna) founded the farm in June of 2016 after many years of collective farm management experience. We use organic growing practices to protect our soil and waterways, and strive to produce delicious, nutritious produce for our 200-family CSA program, seasonal farmers markets and wholesale customers. Our name comes from our shared love of our dog who reminds us to live simply and have fun every day.

  • Starting on time and going home on time: In order to all get on the same page to start the day, we meet at our start time and then launch right into the day. Starting on time makes this all possible! We also have a set end time and do not ask people to stay late.

  • Satisfaction from accomplishing tasks: Farming can be challenging, and we draw a lot of our satisfaction from it by getting stuff done! It’s hugely motivating to us to see a field transformed after weeding or a huge stack of crates full of food that we harvested for people.

  • Efficiency: We work to create systems that make our farm efficient and functional for everybody. We’re always trying to find ways to make processes more enjoyable and take less time.

  • Communication: We use a lot of checklists, white boards, walkie talkies, and check ins to make sure we’re all on the same page. We value working with people who are active communicators and willing to accept feedback.

Position Description - Seasonal Crew Member

Good Dog Farm is currently seeking candidates to assist with all farm activities from May through November, 2026. Tasks will include planting, weeding, harvesting, and packing organic vegetables for CSA, farmers market and wholesale customers. Some experience working in farming or another outdoor work environment is required. Successful candidates will be highly motivated, with a strong attention to detail, and a desire to learn. You will be working directly with the farm owners and our experienced crew. Applicants must be able to show up ready to move quickly and efficiently in all weather and enjoy working on a fun, inclusive team.

We are only seeking part-time (2-3 days/week) candidates at this time. Base pay begins at $18.50/ hour for applicants, more depending on experience, with opportunities for future raises. We offer paid sick days.

Requirements

  • A desire and willingness to work outside (in the rain, heat, and cold too!)

  • Reliable transportation to and from the farm

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs repeatedly and easily, and work physically all day

  • Ability to work well in an inclusive team environment

  • A general can-do attitude and willingness to learn

Responsibilities

  • Report to work on time and be ready to begin day’s tasks within 5 minutes of designated start time

    • We work 9 hour days, Monday - Friday. 

  • Work with and take direction from farm owners and managers to complete any and all necessary farm tasks in an efficient and timely manner. Breakdown of tasks roughly as follows:

    • Harvest crew ~70% of the time

    • Production fieldwork (eg, planting, weeding, etc) ~30% of time

  • Be in communication with other farm staff at all times via walkie talkie provided (or if necessary, cell phone)

  • Participate in team meetings, training, etc as scheduled

  • Follow all posted signs and procedures in the workplace to ensure the quality of produce and safety of the crew

Position Description - Delivery Driver (Can Be Combined with Crew Member position)

Good Dog Farm is currently seeking a Delivery Driver for our CSA shares on Thursdays mid June through November, 2026. The Delivery Driver will drive our cargo van to drop off CSA boxes at pick up locations around Baltimore. Some experience working in farming or another outdoor work environment is preferred. Successful candidates will be highly motivated, with a strong attention to detail, and a desire to learn. You will be working largely by yourself, so strong communication is imperative. Applicants must be able to show up ready to move quickly and efficiently in all weather and enjoy working on a fun, inclusive team.

Since this is a one day per week position, it can be combined with the Crew Member position. Base pay begins at $18.50/ hour for applicants with no experience, more depending on experience, with opportunities for future raises. We offer paid sick days.

  • Be in communication with farm owners during deliveries via cell phone

  • Participate in team meetings, training, etc as scheduled

  • Follow all posted signs and procedures in the workplace to ensure the quality of produce and safety of the crew
